A primary five pupil has appeared before the Accra Circuit Court for raping a 14- year- old primary three girl.
The young boy who pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement had a difficult time in court challenging the fact that he was not 18 years old. The court, presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, ordered the accused to produce his birth certificate and remanded him into police custody.
Facts presented by the prosecution were that the victim and the accused person both reside at Adenta, a suburb of Accra. According to the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire, on June May 16, 2016, at about 8p.m., the victim was sent by her auntie.
“At the roadside, the victim met the accused person who lured her into a wooden structure and forcible had sexual intercourse with her and thereafter escorted her back home,’’ the prosecutor narrated.
