A gunman has killed 50 people and injured 53 in a gay night club in Orlando, Florida, US.
The gunman, identified as Omar Mateen, was killed after taking hostages, according to a report by the BBC.
The governor of Florida, Rixk Scott, is said to have described the shooting the worst mass shooting in recent US history, adding that it was "clearly an act of terror".
A state of emergency has been declared in the state, the report said.
Officials said the killings were likely to be ideologically motivated, though there was no information that the gunman was associated with a particular group.
The suspect, a US citizen from the Florida town of Port St Lucie, is said to be of Afghan descent.
