Residents of Abirem in the Ashanti Region are in a state of shock and cannot explain how a mentally challenged woman would kill all her children not long after they are delivered.
In the latest incident involving her eighth child, Yaa Adjeiwaa is alleged to have killed the baby in a similar fashion her other kids died under.
The 37-year-old woman who is said to have lived with epilepsy for the past eight years has allegedly had one child after the other, died under mysterious circumstances for which some have pointed accusing fingers at her mother, Akua Afriyie, saying she uses them for rituals.
Afriyie indicated that Yaa suffered a seizure when she (Afriyie) had gone to the bush to fetch some firewood and only returned to find her daughter lying on the lifeless body of the baby.
According to her, she called on the assistance of other neighbours to break into her room where they found the lifeless baby wrapped in a sack.
Yaa Agyeiwaa, told Joy News that she cannot tell how her children die and was wondering where the child was.
She said it was her mother, Afriyie who told her the child was dead.
The mystery death of the children especially the latest, has made neighbours give varied interpretations with some suggesting that Yaa unconsciously suffocates the children while others say she starves them because she is unable to provide for them due to her condition.
There were others who rather expressed the opinion that the children’s grandmother in strange ways succeeds in making strange men sleep with her daughter and impregnate Yaa to make her deliver the babies to facilitate her rituals.
A resident corroborated this suspicion when she claimed she had questioned Yaa about the men who sleep with her only for Yaa to tell her, the mother (Afriyie) invite strange men she hardly knows to have sex with her immediately after taking her bath.
The child to have lived longest among the children died at age three while the one who died shortest was only two-months-old.
