Don't get pregnant while in school - Education minister warns girls

Minister of education, Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman, has charged female pupils to desist from having babies while in school.

The sector minister in an address to candidates of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipality in Accra warned that getting pregnant while in school had the highest chance of cutting short one's educational prospects considering the challenges involved with teenage pregnancy.

Her calls follow concerns over pregnant candidates who keep getting denied access to sit their exams due to their state of pregnancy - a development many a girl child activists have described as a violation of their rights as girls.
