About twenty-six people suspected to be engaging in phone theft and other criminal activities have been arrested by the Nima Police Command in Accra.
The suspects who were picked up in a swoop on Tuesday evening around Kwame Nkrumah interchange were arrested after a tip off. Over two hundred mobile phones ranging from Nokia, Samsung and Black Berry were retrieved from the suspects.
The Nima divisional commander, ACP Nuhu Jango, says the swoop is part of a joint operation by the Greater Accra Police Command to clamp down on criminal activities in the region.
“The information we had is that people are selling at Circle and so we decided to embark on this exercise to see. Those arrested are all suspects” he said.
