The Aboadze Thermal Plant has been shut down due to limited of supply of gas from the Ghana National Gas Company.
The situation has created a deficit of 400 megawatts, leading to renewed load shedding (dumsor) in parts of the country, according to a report by Accra-based Starr FM.

Power providers are currently observing the plant as part of preparations for switching its fuel source to light crude.
The deputy power minister, John Jinapor, told the radio station that the problem had been compounded by damage to the sensor of the plant, which he said engineers were working around the clock to fix.
He gave an assurance that the challenge would be fixed “within a couple of days”.
