The mother of President John Dramani Mahama will be buried on Friday, it has been reported.
Hajia Fatima Abiba Nnaba will be buried in Busunu in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region, Accra-based 3fm reported on Thursday, citing family representatives.
Hajia Nnaba died on Tuesday night after a short illness.
The site of her burial had been the subject of agitation, according to media reports.
The people of Bole had wanted the president’s mother to be buried at her matrimonial home, but the skin of Busunu, Mahama Nugbaso II, demanded her interment at her paternal home, the reports said.
President Mahama is said to have made the decision that the burial should be at Busunu.
Meanwhile, several Ghanaians are still commiserating with the president on the passing away of his mum.
The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, was at the residence of President John Mahama to mourn with him.
The founder of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr Papa Nduom, also shared a message of sympathy.
“My heartfelt condolence and sympathy to President John Dramani Mahama on the passing of his mother.
“Mothers are special and it brings great grief to lose them. May the Almighty console the President and his family, and may He grant his mother eternal rest,” Dr Nduom said in a statement.
