The Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) suspended admissions at its surgical emergency unit on Tuesday over what it said was the lack of space there.
The hospital’s authorities said in a notice posted at the entrance of the unit that they were putting admissions on hold because the unit was full to capacity and they did not want to compromise quality health care delivery by admitting more people.
The notice indicated that the unit would resume admitting patients after 48 hours.
The unit is, therefore, expected to open for full operations on Friday (today).
In February, Korle-Bu closed down three clinics - General Surgery, Neurosurgery and Urology – to allow some repair works to be undertaken at the surgery department.
