The National Service Secretariat has released postings for the 2016/2017 service year. A total of 70,407 personnel have been allocated to various institutions across the country.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Acting Executive Director, Dr. Michael Kpessa-Whyte. He said “the service personnel who have been deployed to both private and public sectors of the economy are Ghanaian graduates from 137 tertiary institutions across the country and those who have completed their studies abroad.”
The statement also justified the early release of the postings saying it is “to afford prospective service personnel sufficient time to prepare before they take up their postings in September, 2016.” The early posting is also to give user agencies ample time to organize in-service orientation and training programmes for service personnel posted to their institutions.
All prospective national service personnel are advised by Dr. Kpessa-Whyte to visit the Scheme’s website by logging onto www.nss.gov.gh to check their placements. Registration is expected to start on 11th July, 2016 and end on Friday, 26th August, 2016 at all national service regional offices across the country.
The statement finally urges all prospective service personnel to desist from changing their placements and rather “be prepared to accept their placements as part of their civic responsibilities and contributions towards building a prosperous nation”.
The 2016/2017 national service commences on Thursday, 1st September, 2016.
