President John Dramani Mahama has replied critics who are calling for his impeachment over a Ford Expedition he received as a gift from a Burkina contractor.
Speaking on the issue during his Greater Accra region “Accounting to the People” tour, Mahama said the accusations and allegations are baseless.
He also dared anyone who thinks he is complicit in the matter to resort to the courts. “If I have been involved in corruption, you have the constitutional means to do what you want to do but when you make baseless rumours and accusations, it won’t win you the presidency,” he said in Ashaiman.
According to him [President Mahama] electorates and Ghanaians are discerning and will make the right decision and choice during the presidential elections.
“I am convinced that by the grace of almighty God, Inshallah, you have seen the work we have done and they know that given the opportunity we will do more than that.”
Mahama also asked that Ghanaian gave him a second chance in November.
There have been widespread allegations that the president’s acceptance of Djibril Kanazoe’s Ford Expedition gift may have constituted a conflict of interest.
