Footballer sent off for farting in Sweden

A Swedish footballer was sent off after he farted during a match between Järna SK’s reserve team and Pershagen SK.

The referee accused Adam Lindin Ljungkvist of “deliberate provocation” and “unsportsmanlike behaviour” and showed him a second yellow card, according to a report by guardian.co.uk.

The decision is said to have shocked Adam, who called it the strangest thing he had ever experienced in football.

“I had a bad stomach, so I simply let go… I asked the referee, ‘What, am I not allowed to break wind a little?’ ‘No,’ he replied … I don’t get it but maybe he thought I farted in my hand and threw the fart at him. But I did not,” he said.

Opposition striker Kristoffer Linde said he heard the fart and found it very strange.

“I was standing a good distance away but I heard the fart loud and clear. It’s the strangest thing I’ve seen on a pitch, and I’ve been playing football since I was eight years old,” he said.

The referee, Dany Kako, said he sent James off because he farted on purpose and that it was inappropriate.
