Komenda sugar factory shuts down for repair works

Barely a month after it got commissioned, government has announced the shutdown of  the Komenda sugar factory.

Public relations officer of the trade ministry, Nana Akrasi-Sarpong who confirmed the closure of the US$ million factory has disputed claims that the closure was as a result of employee agitations. Meanwhile, he has revealed the factory “will resume full operations in October 2016.”

The commissioning of the Komenda Sugar has attracted severe criticisms by major political parties as government has been warned that the 'half-baked' factory  was not in the best capacity to embark on a full-scale sugar production.
