The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has told President John Mahama that he has his support to accelerate the development of the country.
“You are the one Ghanaians have voted for to rule us. Whatever I will do to help you for Ghana to progress, I shall do. I did same during President Kufuor’s regime when he went to Washington to seal the deal on HIPC,” Otumfuo said when the president called on him at the Manhyia Palace as part of his 'Accounting to the People' tour.
Otumfuo said President Mahama, like former President John Kufour did, was using the Ghana's funds to develop the country.
According to him, the president signed up for an IMF loan programme because of his willingness to make Ghana a better place, adding: "Whatever I need to do for you to succeed, I will provide."
Otumfuo also stressed the need for the upcoming November elections to peaceful.
The Asantehene said he would President Mahama and the NPP flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo, who he said had both committed themselves to sustaining the peace in the country, responsible for any breach thereof, during and after the elections.
