Collins Amankwah wins Manhyia North NPP primary

The Manhyia North Member of Parliament, Collins Owusu-Amankwa has won the NPP’s primary to contest the on the party’s ticket for the 2016 parliamentary election.

In a keenly contested race, the sitting MP polled 185 votes, while his closest rival, Kwesi Konadu polled 171 votes and the third contestant, Nana Osei Bamfoe got 128 votes in Saturday’s election.

The primary had been postponed on several occasion due to claims the register for the constituency was bloated.

Meanwhile, reports say the police managed to prevent some people who wanted to whisk the ballot boxes away.
