A Winneba magistrate court has sentenced two men, Emmanuel Afenyi Abeiku, 22, and 32-year-old Isaac Mensah, a farmer to two years each in prison for stealing from a church.
The court presided over by Alexandr Owerae charged the men on two counts of conspiracy to steal and stealing when they appeared before it.
Abeiku and Mensah pleaded not guilty on both counts but the court found them guilty after the trial.
Inspector Peter Agbelie told the court that on June 11, 2016, Abeiku and Mensah entered the New Beginning Revival Church, still under construction, in Winneba and made away with 55 plastic chairs, 3 plastic tables 15 yards of woolen carpet, two office tables, two coffee tables, three curtains, and six boxes of wall tiles, and 11 Wawa boards all valued at GH₵2,247.

He said the police have gotten hold of some of the stolen items whilst those yet to be retrieved were valued at GH₵1,311.
