President John Mahama is the leading flagbearer on social media ahead of the November 7 elections.
An analysis of his social media following showed that he had 233,834 followers on Twitter and 880,620 likes on Facebook as at June 8, according to a governance social media index-Ghana report released by Penplusbytes on Thursday.
The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was second with 94,034 followers on Twitter and 715,761 likes on facebook.
The report also showed that only four of 25 registered political parties are on Twitter, with the NPP boasting the largest following on the social network. It is followed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in second place.
The report, according to Penplusbytes, indicates that social media is now a major medium for politicians to reach prospective voters.
