ECG disconnects Accra sports stadium

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has disconnected power to the Accra Sports Stadium following a mass disconnection exercise of defaulters in Accra.

The Accra Sports Stadium in 2015 owed the ECG bills worth GH¢240,000 and were placed on a payment plan of GH¢24,000 per month to enable them clear the debt.  Meanwhile, a national athlete who spoke to Graphic Online on condition of anonymity said, sportsmen and sportswomen were now unable to train at the DG Hathiramani Hall of the Stadium beyond 6:00 pm because of darkness.

So far, the facility is the second national stadium to be taken off the national grid in two weeks after the newly constructed Cape Coast Sports Stadium was disconnected for owing the ECG GH¢719,792.46.
