Esther Enyonam, the 26-year-old lady who poured acid on her boyfriend, has been charged with causing harm using an offensive weapon.
Esther bathed Eric Ohemeng, a student of GIMPA, with acid after he jilted her.
The acid irreparably damaged Eric’s right eye and affected his genitals. He also underwent five surgeries and launched an appeal to raise money for three more.
Esther bolted after the act and was arrested in February - seven months later - by the police.
She was arrested at Dansoman when she got down from a taxi to meet Eric, with the police waiting to arrest her.
She had been disguising herself with a veil around her head and had initially fled to Togo and then to Aflao in the Volta Region, according to a report by the Daily Graphic.
She later moved to Kasoa, where she was hiding until her boyfriend, with the help of the police, arranged a meeting with her, leading to her arrest, the report said.
Esther was initially charged with attempted murder but the attorney-general revised it on Thursday to causing harm using an offensive weapon.
