The Ghana Swimming Association president Theophilus Edzi has confirmed that they have swimmer Ophelia Swayne indefinitely after she went on a rant on Twitter claiming officials had been bribed.
Ophelia Swayne on Tuesday alleged that her swim colleague Kaya Forson’s father had bribed some officials at the Ghana Swimming Association to replace her with his daughter at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Mr. Edzi said: “Ophelia could not swim in the World Championship knowing the advantage that happens there. Her club had expunged her for truancy during her training regime and because of that she lost a place in the national team.
The president of the association said before Ophelia is allowed back into the association, she must apologise to him and the association for the slander.
Mr. Andrew Forson, Kaya Forson’s father has also denied the claims by Ophelia Swayne.
