A 35-year-old man in Mumbai allegedly killed his two-year-old son and called his wife to tell her where he had dumped the body before bolting.
The body of the deceased boy was found in a drain near the Sandhurst Road railway station in Mumbai after the wife, Samina Khan (32) reported the matter to the JJ Marg police. A nationwide hunt has been initiated for the father, Kadir Aamir Khan (35), the accused in the case, who has been on the run since he called his wife up on Wednesday.
According to a report by the Indian Express, the police report of the incident stated that, Kadir had been at his sister’s home for the Eid celebrations.
"On Wednesday, Khan told his wife he was taking their son Kaif to buy him clothes," said Anil Madvi, senior inspector, J J Marg police station. When they did not return, Samina lodged a missing person’s complaint at night. She got the call from Khan the next morning.
"The accused said he had killed Kaif with a stone and left the body in a drain near the Sandhurst Road," Madvi said.
The police investigating the case are yet to discover the motive for the murder. "The family told us Khan suffered from a mental condition, but there appears to be no quarrel between the couple," Madvi said.
