Residents of Tema Newtown have threatened to embark on a demonstration if the Karpowership, a Turkish floating power plant stationed at Tema, is not removed from the area.
The residents said smoke from the plant was polluting their environment, according to adomfmonline.com.
They said several petitions to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to resolve the matter had not yielded any result.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema East Constituency, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover said the Karpowership was making life unbearable for people in the constituency.
He said relaxation centers such as the beach where people went to unwind were the worst-hit areas.
The MP vowed to take on the regulatory agencies if they did not fix the problem.
The Karpowership is said to produce 210 MW of electricity for the country, running on low sulphur heavy fuel oil.
