Resurrection is the main theme of the Bible. Without it the whole teaching would have no meaning, as Apostle Paul writes us:
“And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” (1 Corinthians 15:17-19)
So, the topic of resurrection is primary for the Bible, and it is crucial for all, who believe in Jesus Christ. Here we reveal the mystery of 7 resurrections from the Scriptures.
7 incredible resurrections:
The first fruit from the dead!
Jesus is the firstborn Son of God, and He is the first to arise from the dead. Here is what the Bible tells us and gives hope:
“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again [as in fact He did], even so, God [in this same way—by raising them from the dead] will bring with Him those [believers] who have fallen asleep in Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 4:14
Jesus’ resurrection is the key to our eternal life. Paul also says that since we have born the image of the rotten man, we shall bear the image of the heavenly!
The Saints on Jesus crucifixion day
We read the account of these events in Matthew 27:52-53. Many people in Jerusalem have seen those saints from Old Testament and its prominent prophets, who rose again after Jesus’ death on the cross. Their sins were paid for!
Jesus has made a promise not to leave us here and to come back. The Bible tells us that when He does, the dead in Christ will be raised first. It is written in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. We do not know exactly the time when the rapture will take place. But we are aware it is going to happen.
The witnesses of God during the tribulation times
Those would be the last 7 years of the world, as we know it now. And God promised to send two magnificent witnesses to testify to the dying world and turn them to Jesus. You can read the story in Revelation 11:1-13. The Antichrist will murder them, but God will raise them up in three days.
We read the story in Revelation 20:4-6. These people believed in God during the tribulation and were murdered by unbelievers for their faith. They were raised by God!
Saints from Old Testament
In Daniel 12:1-2 we read the account about the key Old Testament saints coming out of their graves. They will wake up to enter the Kingdom of God on Earth during the Millennial rule of Jesus.
People resurrected by God
There were many incidents of people dying and being raised again. Like Lazarus, some of them were raised by Jesus. Others were raised by Apostles or prophets, like Elijah.
As we see, even in the Old Testament times there were cases of resurrection. It is the greatest hope of all the Christians. Apostle Paul said:
“Therefore we do not become discouraged [spiritless, disappointed, or afraid]. Though our outer self is [progressively] wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16
We have the hope of being raised with the Christ in new heavenly bodies, which never die and know no pain, sickness or corruption. That is why we strive forwards and press on to receive the honor from God and make our souls fit to inhabit such amazing temples.
