Kufuor denies having talks with Mugabe over stepping down

Former president John Agyekum Kufuor has described as untrue statements made by ex- president Rawlings that he had led a delegation to Zimbabwe to convince Robert Mugabe to step down.

In a press statement issued by his spokesperson Frank Agyekum, John Kufuor wonders why Jerry Rawlings would ever decide to make such claims.

"It beats one’s understanding that such an untrue narrative could be concocted,” former president Kufuor stated.

Jerry John Rawlings had earlier in an interview revealed that ex-Presidents Kufour and Obasanjo were snubbed by Robert Mugabe when they were sent by two western leaders to talk him (Mugabe) into stepping down.
