Good news! Inflation for June drops to 18.4%

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has revealed that inflation rate for June 2016 inched down to 18.4% as compared to 18.9% in May 2016.

Government statistician, Dr. Philomena Nyarko has revealed that the monthly change rate in June 2016 was 1.3% while that for May 2016 was 1.1% with nonfood inflation for June recorded as 24.1% compared with 25.0% recorded in May 2016.

According to Dr. Nyarko, the main factors that contributed to the downwards inflation for June includes transport, education and housing. Also imports for June declined to 17.1 percent from 18.5 in May.
