A Church of Pentecost elder has died following his attempt to save another man who was trapped deep in a well under construction in the Sekreye East District of the Ashanti Region.
The 47 year old man known as Isaac Appiah, was lowered into the well where a 36-year old man had suffered severe dehydration from the heat in the well believed to be 65 feet.

Unfortunately, Mr. Appiah suffered the same fate as his body was not able to withstand the heat underground and became too weak to hang onto the rope that was to pull them back up.
According to myjoyonline.com, a resident in the Kwakwanua community explained that an NGO was funding the construction of that well. The construction is however supervised by the District Assembly where Isaac Appiah is also a committee member.

When construction workers hit the water bed, they realized they had to dig further in order to get more water. The machine used in drilling expelled a lot of heat causing the last worker to lose a lot of body fluids and getting weak.
The deceased then volunteered to go down to help the worker out of the hole but also suffered dehydration as a result of the heat and later collapsed in the well.
The father of seven together with the last worker he tried to save both lost their lives. The two bodies were later retrieved and deposited at a local health facility.
