The Economic Intelligence Unit has predicted victory for the opposition New Patriotic Party in the 2016 elections.
In its July 14 report, the EIU said the NPP will win the elections by a convincing margin.
According to the report, discontent over the economic conditions in the country will cause voters to punish the ruling National Democratic Congress.
It said pre-election spending in 2016 would also put pressure on Ghana’s fiscal deficit target set in conjunction with the IMF, although the government would be more successful at resisting what it called large-scale populist spending than in previous election years.

The EIU went to warn about the possibility of violence during the elections, which it said would expose the country to notable risks.
