President John Mahama has described as "lovely"; dancehall artiste Shatta Wale’s hit song titled "Mahama Paper."
In an interview with state-owned Radio Savannah in Tamale, the president said he liked the song and when he enquired about its meaning, he was told; “Mahama Paper is our currency; the cedi and that all of us [should] spend it and that we must protect it…”
This is the latest of many endorsements of entertainers by the first gentleman. He has in the past spoken about his fondness for other Ghanaian musicians including Stonebwoy and his song ‘Baafira’ and about his love for locally made films.
One of the president’s favourite songs is ‘Yentie Obiaa’ by Daddy Lumba; a musician who composed the opposition party’s campaign song. He has danced to it on several occasion and is unapologetic about that although the lyrics essentially mean ‘we won’t listen to anybody.’
The president has wrapped up his flagship "Accounting to the People Tour" of the country in the Northern Region.
