Rangers were reportedly interested initially to sign the striker on a season-long term loan deal but were impressed after watching him perform on trials and therefore decided to offer him a permanent deal.

Mark Warburton, Rangers boss hopes to unveil Joe Dodoo as his ninth summer signing early next week.

Warburton said: 'We have to get the paperwork completed but I'd think that by early next week both clubs will have sorted it. And it will be a permanent move.

'We like Joe. He can play out wide or in the centre but we see him as playing more central.

'He's mobile, technical, a player who can pull something out of the hat.

'He can look quiet and quite subdued and then beat a couple of players, drop a shoulder and curl the ball in the top corner. He has got that about him.

The Scottish giants are hoping the Ghanaian will add to their fire power upfront in the upcoming campaign.
