According to a spokesman from StudioCanal, the movie which is about an attempt to foil a terror attack on French soil on Bastille Day was recalled due to the massive similarities it bears with the actual attack in Nice.
"The film has been withdrawn from cinemas out of respect for the victims and their families." StudioCanal spokesman Antoine Banet-Rivet said on Saturday.
Bastille Day is a 2016 action film directed by James Watkins and written by Andrew Baldwin. The film stars Idris Elba, Richard Madden alongside Charlotte Le Bon, Eriq Ebouaney, and José Garcia.
The movie came out in France Wednesday, before Thursday’s unfortunate attacks. It had been playing in over 200 cinemas across the country.
