EC officers threaten to boycott exhibition over low pay

The ongoing voters' register exhibition exercise in Tamale is bound to face challenges as recruits of the electoral commission (EC) are threatening to boycott their posts on Wednesday if their allowances are not adjusted upwards.

Protesting against the GH¢30 allowance given them after undergoing a three-day intensive capacity building workshop ahead of the exercise, the recruits lament their colleagues in other districts within the Northern Region received GHc60 cedis for the same workshop.

Also they h their cave revealed that colleagues in other regions have been promised GH¢ 720 contrary to the GH¢400 they will receive at the end of the 21-days exercise. The intended boycott if activated on Wednesday, will affect voters in Tamale central, Tamale north and Tamale south constituencies. Meanwhile, the EC is yet to comment on the development.
