Menstruation cited as the cause of absenteeism in Ghana

Research by the Catholic Relief Service (CRS) and the University for Development Studies (UDS) reveals that Ghana's senior high schools record higher rates of absenteeism during their menstrual periods.

Country representative for the project, Kris H. Ozar explained that the research intended to uncover the reason behind the menace since girl-child education is poor especially in the Northern Regions thus calling on government to institute the best ways to provide girls with sanitary pads just so they could achieve their educational goals.

So far, Ghana's girl-child remains the most targetted group of persons with the least rate of education as the UN warns the development could inure to Ghana's socio-economic development.
