Amakye and Dede star, John Dumelo has responded to claims of campaigning for the National Democratic Congress on his on-going peace tour.
The claims were leveled against the actor by National Youth Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku.
The National Youth Organiser accused the actor of breaching regulations regarding political activities in Senior High Schools.
According to Mr Awuku, the engagement the actor is holding in selected senior high schools, disguised as a preacher of peace is actually campaigning for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). He therefore called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to stop him.
John Dumelo, reacting to Mr. Awuku claims said even though it is true that he is embarking on a school-to-school tour, he has not engaged in any form of political campaigning but rather preaching peace.
Speaking in an interview on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma with host Yaa Konama, John Dumelo said: “We write to the school authorities and most of the schools approve it…I go with the aim of preaching peace. I advise them not to do politics on the campuses and I try as much as possible not to talk about politics…”
The actor said the only time he talks about politics is when he goes to public places like the markets.
