The Ghana police service says it has assigned security details who are going to render personal guard services to political parties ahead of this year’s election.
Superintendent Cephas Arthur, the police chief PRO of the police service said his outfit has assigned each political party six security persons, four of whom will ensure the safety of flag bearers while two protect their running mates.
He reiterated that the various parties would not need to pay for the services of the security personnel assigned to them.
He said: “It is purely for personal security responsibility that we are assigning these people. They are not supposed to be involved in any politics. The police officers are also to appear in police uniforms at all times.”
Cephas Arthur further said their men had been given special training and were capable of providing VIP protection.
