Huawei has joined the Smart Africa Alliance as Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) advisor and Platinum member as part of its efforts to drive Africa’s digital transformation in the near future.

Smart Africa is an innovative commitment African Heads of State and Government have made to accelerate the continent’s sustainable socio-economic development.

The initiative hopes to attain its goal by making broadband and usage of Information and Communications Technologies affordable to all.

H.E. Paul Kagame, the President of Rwanda, has revealed the Smart Africa Manifesto, the foundation of this initiative, is based on 5 principles: "To put ICT at the center of our national socio-economic development agenda; To improve access to ICT especially Broadband; To improve accountability, efficiency and openness through ICT; To put the Private Sector First; To leverage ICT to promote sustainable development."
