The wife of the 32 year old police officer with the Rapid Deployment Force in Tema, Lance Corporal Amuzu, who committed suicide after shooting his mother in-law and his two children, told Citi FM the late officer had been threatening her life repeatedly before Monday’s gruesome act.
Had she not been visiting her sister at Ashiaman on the fateful day, she would have been dead by now too.
Madam Rafa narrated that her husband always suspected her of cheating on him and threatened to kill her several times and even attacked her once with a screw driver.
Fearing for her life, she lodged several complains reported his to the police several times but not much was achieved since he was in the force himself.
She said she then had to take matter to DOVSSU: “the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit, DOVSSU after I had lodged one of the assault complaints to them, they asked my husband (the deceased) to rent us a new accommodation as we could not live together under same roof.”
Unfortunately, her husband decided to leave a gory scene of dead bodies of her mother and children as well as himself in a murder-suicide.
