The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Party, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, took her turn at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) Evening Encounter with Presidential Candidates ahead of the December 7 polls.
Speaking the forum the former First Lady said the current administration has failed to solve the problems of Ghanaians.
According to her, the NDC government is everything but innovative.
Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings says the situation the nation finds itself requires a leader whose thinking goes beyond conventional solutions to the many challenges facing Ghana.
“As a nation, we cannot settle for better while other countries are reaching for the best with innovative leadership,” she said.
The NDP leader also noted that the current tax regime the government is supervising is counterproductive for economic development and crippling businesses.
“The government is telling us only a few Ghanaian pay taxes. The NDP wants to differ. Everybody pays tax on rural water, [National Health Insurance Scheme] NHIS – these taxes are on everything that we buy,” she said.
The NDP leader said she will change the tax system to reflect the economic situation of Ghanaians.
