Ghanaian highlife musician Daasebre Gyamenah is dead.
According to the brother of the musician, Martin Appiah Kubi, the singer died Friday morning at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
He told YEN.com.gh that he “received a call from a nurse at Korle Bu hospital this morning [Friday]” informing him of his brother’s passing.
Daasebre has many hit songs including “Kokoko”, “Still I love You” and “Wo da enda”.
In May 2007, Daasebre was sentenced to prison in the UK, after he was found guilty of possessing illicit drugs.
Daasebre Gyamenah is also an Islam convert known as Abubakar Sadique.
Social media has gone agog, expressing shock at the news.
