The electoral commission (EC) says there will be no extension for the re-registration of voters whose names were deleted from the register after registering with NHIS cards.
Director of public affairs for the EC, Eric Dzakpasu at a press briefing argues that much publicity has been made - an effort which has seen only 22,107 out of the total 56, 000 re-registering.
"It has been four years since they registered. Chances are that a good number of them may no longer have been with us and others may have their own reasons why they would not want to re-register. If people actually wanted to get registered, they could have done so within the 10 days. There is no evidence that when an extension of the date is granted, the remaining people will come out and register,"he explained.
The exhibition is expected to end August 7.
