Two workers of the electoral commission who went to the residence of Dr. Mahamamudu Bawumia to verify his name on the voters register have been sacked.
Yubi Ambrose an exhibition officer and Mumuni latifa a verification officer who is reported to have acted on the orders of a top EC officer allegedly took a 10,000 cedi bribe. Deputy regional director of the EC, Benjamin Bamubio said the commission took the action after the issue was brought to their knowledge and the officers interrogated.
"Our investigation has shown that a senior official at the District office instructed the two officers to send the Biometric Verification Device (BVD) to Dr. Bawumia's house," Mr. Razak said.
Meanwhile, Dr Bawumia has argued that the said workers never come over to house to verify his name on the register.
