Black Stars defender Baba Rahman has left his Chelsea club for German side Schalke as new boss Antonio Conte has declared him surplus to his immediate plans.
Rahman who cost the Blues more than £20million has left Chelsea’s American pre season training camp for Schalke where he has been allowed to go on loan.
The young left back made just 15 appearances for the Blues in the Premier League after the club bought him from German side Augsburg last season.
It appears Rahman’s remaining four years of his contract would be bereft of opportunities as the Italian gaffer used England Under-21 international at left back when they beat Liverpool 1-0 in Pasadena on Wednesday and also enquired about PSV Eindhoven full-back Santiago Arias as a possible replacement.
The 22-year-old is said to have shunned interests from Atletico Madrid and Roma for Schalke who have in their camp former Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl.
Chelsea know Ivanovic is aging and are also continuing to hunt for new defenders having bid £38million for Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly and Benfica's Victor Lindelof and Torino's Nikola Maksimovic also on their list of options.
