5 things you NEVER knew about late actor, George Williams

Ghanaian actor and film tutor, George Williams passed away in the morning of Monday, 1st August, 2016.

The veteran actor's death came as a shock to many who didn't know the octogenarian had been having a declining health over the passed few months.

In his prime, George Williams became a household name in the Ghanaian movie industry for his excellent roles played in movies and TV shows such as "Ultimate Paradise", "Genesis" and more.

In celebration of the actor's life, YEN presents to you five things most people probably don't know about George Williams.

1. He was born on January 8, 1929

George Brigars Williams was born on January 8, 1929 to Nora Awoonor Williams and Francis Awoonor Williams.

2. He attended Adisadel College

He attended Adisadel College from 1941 to 1945 and was with Hamlyn House during his stay. He also attended Nelson College and Bacham & Tooting College of Commerce. During his time at Adisadel, he was an active member of the school’s sports team. He was a high jumper.

3. George worked with several media houses

"Uncle George" as he was affectionately called, had previously worked with the British Broadcasting Corporation, the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service, and the Liberian Advertising Service.

4. He is behind many successful TV series

The numerous film projects he worked on included the hit television series; Ultimate Paradise and the films Friday at 4:30, The Young and The Old and My Sister's Honour.

5. George Williams was a teacher of film

Before his death, he taught the Academic Director at the Accra Film School, a private media training institute.
