Member of parliament (MP) for the Obuasi East constituency, Edward Anning has made a shocking revelation about Ghanaian legislators stating that MPs are living in abject poverty.
The member of parliament reveals Ghana's economic hardship has caused MPs to plunge in huge debts following demands from constituents for development in their constituents.
“We owe more than the ordinary Ghanaian I can tell you. Some of us have to contract loans at high-interest rates from banks just to make up because our constituents will not understand why won’t attend funerals and other social functions…..all these cost money,” he revealed on Ultimate FM.
Describing how serious the situation of MPs is, Edward Anning reveals that legislators cannot even boast of GH¢200 in their pockets at the end of each month.
