Baby saves mother from jail in Eastern Region

A two-year-old baby has saved its 32-year-old mother from jail in the Eastern Region.

According to a report by the Daily Graphic, the Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court deferred sending the woman, Juliana Nartey, to serve 12 months in jail until the baby turns five.

Juliana had been charged with causing harm to a 60-year-old woman, Mamle Tawiah, that she fought with.

She is said to have caused Mamle Tawiah to sustain a fracture in her arm. She reportedly admitted to the offence, but said it was not intentional.

The court fined her GH¢250 in addition to a compensation of GH¢600 for the complainant or in default serve 12 months’ imprisonment after her child is five years old, the report said.
