The new complaint by the incumbent NDC calls on the police to investigate allegations that have been brought against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia that he allowed officials of the Electoral Commission to verify him in his house.
Speaking on the issue, the Northern Regional Secretary of the NDC, Halid Abdul Rauf confirmed that the issue had indeed been reported to the police for investigation.
According to a report by Pulse.com.gh, the NDC claims that "Dr. Bawumia and the two EC officials hatched a plan at his residence to delete the names of some NDC members from the voters register."
The vice presidential candidate of the NPP has however denied all allegations. According to Dr. Bawumia, he visited the polling center in his constituency like everyone else to verify his name in the voters' register. He called on the public to dismiss the speculations as a "effort by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to drag his name into the mud."
The deputy regional director of the EC, Benjamin Bamubio, said the Commission took the action after the issue was brought to their knowledge and the officers interrogated.
