Arguably Ghana’s biggest telecom company, MTN has delivered a strong performance for the first half of 2016 and grew its subscriber base by 8.1% to 17.6 million within the period.
The company’s total revenue also increased by 18.9%, supported by strong growth in data and outgoing voice revenue.
MTN Ghana’s data revenue grew by 68% and thus contributed some 38.5% to total revenue supported by data bundles.
Smartphones use on the network was increased by 21.7% to 3.6 million, MTN Group reported in its half-year financial results.

The report also revealed that the launch of LTE services in Ghana, the first operator to do so, as well as attractive value propositions all contributed to market share growth to 53.8%.
