A video of a man believed to be a gay prostitute being held at a police station in Accra has been making rounds on social media, much to the surprise of viewers of the video.
A Facebook user, Awuradwoa Pokuaa posted the video onto her timeline and expressed her surprise at such acts happening in Accra.
Another Facebook user who shared the video and captioned it with a cautious message to people who engaged in the services of prostitutes saying some of them were aids to armed robbers.
In the video, a man dressed as a woman is seen sitting on a bench in what appears to be a police station while being interrogated by officials.
At one point, the unnamed man shouts “you can’t threaten me” when he is vigorously asked to reveal his manhood before everyone.
In further utterances as captured in the video, it becomes obvious that the police were familiar with this alleged gay prostitute as one of the officers heckled the man whilst shouting “you again! You again!”
It is still unknown what charges will be leveled against this alleged gay prostitute as the laws of Ghana vaguely address the issue.
Ghana has expressed its general stand when it comes to gay rights; it is unacceptable. However, the government is yet to put a particular law in place to either ban or allow homosexual activities in the country.
