An official investigation has been opened by the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) into the allegation against President John Dramani Mahama in the controversial Ford Expedition gift saga.
Speaking to Accra-based Citi FM on Monday, Head of Public Relations and Communications at CHRAJ, Comfort Akosua Edu, confirmed that the Commission had started investigating the saga.
According to CHRAJ, the outcome of this initial investigation would determine the commission's next line of action.
The probe looks to have been ignited by a petition from the Youth League of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) in June 2016 to the commission after an investigative report revealed that one Mr. Kanazoe had dashed President Mahama a brand new Ford Expedition in 2012 and consequently won two contracts from the NDC government in the same year.
The government through its communication outlet confirmed President Mahama’s receipt of the said vehicle but denied the act as bribery or conflict of interest.
