Ghana’s female judo athlete Sandra Szogedi lost to Brazil’s Mariana Silva in the Olympic Games on Tuesday.
She is Ghana's first female judoka to compete at the Olympic Games. The 27-year-old first competed for the West African nation only five years ago.
She qualified for the Olympics at an event in Kazakhstan in May, and her impending appearance in Rio is a long way from her childhood in Hungary's capital, Budapest, aspiring to be an international gymnast.
The next Ghanaian athlete to participate at Rio 2016 is Abeku Gyekye Jackson who will be in the Men’s 50m freestyle swimming.
Abdul Omar will also take on Argentine Alberto Ezequiel Melian in the Men’s bantam 56kg boxing on Thursday.
