Hearts of Oak stopped from training at Legon Park over fees

University of Ghana's security team ordered football club, Hearts of Oak, to quit training on the school's Legon Ajax Park on Tuesday, August 9th, 2016.

In a report on Pulse.com.gh, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Hearts of Oak, Opare Addo stated that the club was in good standing with the University of Ghana Sports Directorate. According to him, the situation was a result of a miscommunication between the Sports Directorate and the university's security team.

He stated that their contract with the Sports Directorate of the University ended before their clash against WAFA last week, but they later renewed.

He continued, “However, because we relocated to Tema to have a feel of astroturf, we didn't train at Legon Ajax Park, but we went to renew the contract before we started training there this week.

“However, the authorities forgot to communicate back to the security men that we have renewed the contract, and that was the reason they ordered us to stop."

He, however, stressed that the security team had been duly informed of their good standing by the Sports Directorate and that the Hearts of Oak team would resume training at the Legon Park.

“Training will continue on Wednesday at 8:00 am at the Legon Ajax Park,”

Hearts of Oak will host Techiman City on match day 24 of the Ghana Premier League on Saturday.
