US consumer groups are pushing for Kentucky Fried Chicken to desist from using poultry that has been treated with antibiotics.
The group has managed to collect signatures of more than 350,000 people to petition the owners of KFC.
According to patrons and consumers, they want the company to switch to antibiotic-free chickens.
KFC has already promised to limit the use of human antibiotics in its chicken by next year.
Meanwhile, medical experts have warned that the routine use of antibiotics to promote growth and prevent illness in farm animals contributes to the rise of drug-resistant “superbug” infections that kill at least 23,000 Americans each year and represent a significant threat to global health.
Already some fast food restaurants have switched to the use of only antibiotic-free chicken; example is McDonald.
